The waters

Sheltered, stocked, and quietly kept for over two decades.

Finch Farm sits off Drift Road in the low green country between Maidenhead and Hawthorne Hill. Three lakes, the Main Lake and Anacondas 1 and 2, hold a mixed head of catfish, carp, tench, bream, roach, rudd, perch, chub and pike. Reed beds on Anaconda 2 give spawning cover; mature hedgerows shelter all three from wind. Bank access is generous, matches are welcome, and the pace is unhurried.

Best-kept small fishery I've been on this side of the Thames. Fish looked after, and it shows.

Mark T. · Regular

Took my lad for his first proper session. Landed a low-double carp off peg 8. Made his year.

David R. · Reading

Runs a tight fishery: proper rules, proper welcome. The shack is a bonus.
